Plum Pruning is a symbol of Wuyue culture in the south of the Yangtze River, and it is also a living fossil to witness the history of Jiaxing. The place name of Jiaxing is "Plum Pruning" before Jiaxing, and the history of Plum Pruning in Jiaxing is at least 2,500 years. In recent years, Xiuzhou District Government attaches great importance to development. In 1999, Jiaxing Research Association was established to conduct in-depth research on Prunus mume in Jiaxing, and together with the Provincial Department of Agriculture, a research project on the rescue and development of Prunus mume was carried out to protect, develop and upgrade Prunus mume, accelerate the industrial scale expansion and quality improvement of Prunus mume in Xiuzhou, and realize industrial production. Prunus mume has been planted in Xiuzhou for at least 2,500 years. Prunus mume in Xiuzhou has a large fruit shape, thick peel and easy peeling. When it matures, it is dark purple like amber, and its pulp is light orange-yellow. After it is soft and ripe, it is pulped, tender and juicy, fresh, sweet and refreshing, with a bouquet. It can be called the crown of all plums, and it was called "Jiangnan Tribute" in ancient times, which is favored by consumers. Xiuzhou District has always attached great importance to the development of Prunus mume industry, formulated relevant development plans, issued relevant subsidy policies, subsidized 400 yuan for new Prunus mume with an area of more than 10 mu, and launched the activity of "sending seedlings to villages and planting trees to households" to accelerate the industrial scale expansion and quality improvement of Prunus mume in Xiuzhou. At the same time, we cooperated with Zhejiang University and other units to carry out the research on the selection of improved varieties of Prunus mume and their fruit-setting stability, solved the technical problems such as low fruit-setting rate and unstable yield in Prunus mume production, formulated the production technical regulations of Prunus mume in Xiuzhou, and established a set of quality control measures to ensure the quality of Prunus mume. After years of development, the area of Prunus mume has reached more than 600 mu, and the output value per mu can reach 15,000 yuan. The "Xiuzhou Prunus mume" has played a positive role in promoting the popularity of Xiuzhou Prunus mume, increasing the added value of products and increasing farmers' income through the registration and protection of agricultural products with geographical indications.
